Muharram 2026: A glimpse of faith and bravery will be seen in Ajmer on Muharram, 600 year old traditional ‘Hayed’

Muharram 2026: The city of Khwaja is all set for the historical and traditional ‘Haidos’ played in the memory of the martyrs of Karbala on the holy and solemn occasion of Moharram. There is a lot of enthusiasm among the devotees about this traditional event to be held on the 9th and 10th of Moharram.

Advocate Shahid, Co-Secretary of Panchayat Anjuman, said that this glorious tradition is about 600 to 700 years old, which is still being followed with full dedication from generation to generation.

​Today ‘Chhota Hayados’, Dola Sharif will rise from Jama Altamash Mosque

Sharing the outline of the program, Advocate Shahid said that today, on the 9th of the moon, the event will start with religious and traditional rituals.

• ​Dole Sharif’s programme: After Zohar Namaz (afternoon), the program of Dole Sharif will start with full devotion from the historical mosque Jama Altamash.
• ​Small Haydos: After this, ‘Chhota Hayedos’ will be played after the Isha prayers (night). It will start from the main center Chowk Hatai. During this period, keeping security and tradition in mind, swords provided by the administration will be used.

‘Bada Hayados’ on Ashura, will conclude on the pond

​On the occasion of Yaum-e-Ashura, the 10th of Moharram, the main and grand ‘Bada Haydos’ will be played tomorrow on Friday. After the Friday prayers, this procession and demonstration of Haydos will start from Chowk Hatai. From here, the players and academists will reach the main pond (Karbala) via Tripolia Gate, Stepwell and Badavav while performing Akhara-baat in traditional style.

This historical game of ‘Haidos’ will be concluded with full devotion and moist eyes with the ride of Dole Sharif on the pond.
