Bastar News: Due to the arbitrariness of the crusher plant operators in Bastar of Chhattisgarh, full of mineral wealth, the villagers have to risk their lives. There are many such villages in Bastar district where ballast mines are being operated keeping all the rules in check and the lives of the villagers are being played with. Due to the blast in the mines, there have been cracks in the houses of many nearby villagers. Not only this, the walls of many houses have also collapsed. The dust coming out of the mines is also affecting the health of the villagers. Despite this, the Department of Minerals is not taking any action against the operators of ballast mines and due to this many villagers are forced to leave their homes.

Mines are being operated by keeping the rules in check
In fact, more than 200 crusher plants and ballast mines are being operated in different 7 blocks in Bastar district. Although the rules are being followed in some of these mines, but all the rules are being flouted by the owners of the crusher mines operating in Kadma and its surrounding villages of Darbha block, there is no such day when there is no blast in these plants. Would have happened More than 15 ballast mines are operating in the surrounding area where big stones are broken by blasting. Due to these blasts, the villagers living around the mine have to face a lot of problems, the walls of their houses are bursting due to the blast and cracks have developed in many houses. There is lack of basic facilities in the village due to non-payment of royalty to these mine owners despite earning crores of rupees.

Children and elders getting sick from the dust coming out of the mines
The population of Kadma Panchayat is about 1500, where most of the houses have cracks in their walls and some houses have been completely damaged, the villagers told that everyday blasting is done in the surrounding mines and due to this blast The whole village is shaken, while their children and elders are also falling ill due to the dust coming out of the mines. He says that he has been living in the village for many years. The ballast mines were opened in these areas only after his stay. Earlier it was said by the operators of the mines that this blast will not have any effect and the village will be developed with the royalty money, but after the opening of the mines, neither the village is being developed nor the royalty money. Villagers are getting relief from blast and dust. In such a situation, the villagers want that strict action should be taken against those who are negligent in ballast mines so that their house can be saved from collapse.

What did the Department of Minerals say about the matter
On the other hand, officials of the Department of Minerals say that many times the operators of ballast mines have been warned to blast according to the rules, action will be taken soon at the place from where the complaint has been received. The official said that some amount of royalty received from these mines is used for the development of the village, although development work is being done in those places where the villagers are demanding basic facilities.
