Big decision of Maharashtra government, change in Mahatma Phule scheme, now PET scan will also be free

Maharashtra government has taken a big decision on Friday (July 10). The government has taken important steps towards making Mahatma Phule Jan Arogya Yojana more comprehensive and patient-centric. Public Health Minister Prakash Abitkar announced in the Assembly that now the facility of PET scan at the primary level will also be included in this scheme.

Apart from this, more financial assistance will be provided to the patients for cancer related treatment. This announcement was made in response to the calling attention notice raised by MLA Prashant Thakur in the Assembly.

What did Minister Prakash Abitkar tell about the scheme?

Minister Prakash Abitkar said that the aim of the government is to make the treatment of serious diseases more accessible and effective. With this objective in mind, the scope of Mahatma Phule Jan Arogya Yojana is being expanded, so that more and more patients can get the benefit of modern testing and better treatment.

He said that in order to effectively extend the benefits of this scheme to the people of rural areas, necessary changes will be made in the eligibility criteria of the hospitals affiliated to the scheme. This will make access to treatment facilities easier for patients in rural areas.

Charitable hospitals join Mahatma Phule Jan Arogya Yojana

The Health Minister also clarified that it is the effort of the state government that all types of charitable hospitals should join the Mahatma Phule Jan Arogya Yojana, so that quality and free treatment facilities can be provided to the eligible patients in as many hospitals as possible.

Important steps are being taken by the government to provide better facilities to the citizens. The government is making efforts to provide its benefits directly to the people of Maharashtra.
