Rajasthan News: A newly married bride in Bundi district of Rajasthan allegedly spiked the food of her in-laws and fled from her home, police said on Friday. Police said that on Thursday (12 September) night in Dharghadi village, Manjubai (24) cooked food for her in-laws and mixed something in it. After eating it, the family members fell unconscious and she fled.
According to the police, relatives found them unconscious inside the house, after which they were taken to the district hospital where their treatment is going on. At present, they are out of danger. This includes a six-year-old child as well. Assistant Sub-Inspector Mahendra Yadav of Dablana Police Station said that Durgashankar Gurjar (24) was married to Manjubai on August 23 under ‘Nata Pratha’.
Bride ran away on a motorcycle
According to news agency PTI, under the ‘Nata Pratha’, girls are allegedly sold in the name of marriage on stamp paper or in other ways in some communities in parts of Rajasthan and adjoining areas of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat. However, it has no legal recognition. Mahendra Yadav told that after her in-laws fainted, Manjubai fled from the house on a motorcycle parked there.
The ASI said it was not clear if she had taken any cash or valuables from the house as the family members were still unconscious and undergoing treatment. He said a case has been registered and the police were investigating the matter and trying to trace Manjubai.
