The family of victim Siyaram Vishwakarma in Kataria village of Karanda police station area of Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh has been given financial and residential help by the state government. Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar reached the village and handed over the land lease documents, a check of Rs 5 lakh and documents related to the Chief Minister Housing Scheme to Siyaram Vishwakarma. He said that the government stands with the victim’s family and all possible help will be provided.

On the other hand, according to the police, on April 15, 2026, at around 5:44 am, Siyaram Sharma informed on dial-112 that his daughter had committed suicide by jumping from the Zamaniya Ganga river bridge. The police reached the spot, got the body taken out from the river and got the Panchayatnama and post-mortem done as per the legal procedure. The report states the cause of death as drowning and no injury marks were found on the body.

According to police officials, on the night of 18/19 April, a case was registered on the complaint of Siyaram Sharma, in which Hariom Pandey and Abhishek Pandey were made accused. On April 19 itself, the main accused Hariom Pandey was arrested and presented in the court, from where he was sent to judicial custody. Efforts are on to arrest the second accused.
Meanwhile, on April 22, an incident of stone pelting on police took place in Katariya village, in which two people including a woman were injured, while several policemen were also injured. In this case, a case has been registered against 46 named and 200 unknown people under various sections. The named accused include Samajwadi Party District President Gopal Yadav, Sadar MLA Jaikishan Sahu and Jangipur MLA Virendra Yadav. Police say that a political delegation was present in the village at the time of the incident and during that time the crowd became furious.
Police has clarified that immediate action is being taken in the case and a charge sheet will be filed soon and strict action will be taken against the accused. Also, an appeal has been made to the people not to pay attention to any kind of rumors and to rely only on official information, so that peace is maintained in the area.
