Former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur has made a scathing attack on the current Congress government of the state. Describing the health services of the state as being in a complete disrepair, he said that under the rule of the government which makes tall claims of providing world class facilities, today the entire health system is on ‘ventilator’.
Citing the death of a pregnant woman, Rajni Sharma, resident of Balichowki (Sunaru) in District Kullu Hospital, Jairam Thakur raised serious questions on the functioning of the hospital management. Allegations of gross negligence in treatment have been made by the family members. Referring to the tragic death of a woman after an operation in the hospital of Solan district, he asked when will action be taken against the culprits in these cases and for how long will this continue to happen to mothers and sisters.

Chaos from IGMC to Tanda
The Leader of Opposition expressed concern over the condition of IGMC (Shimla), the largest referral hospital in the state. He said that in emergency situations, the lift is out of order, due to which attendants have to carry patients, elderly people and pregnant women on their shoulders. Apart from this, he also prominently mentioned the transfer of doctors in Tanda Medical College, no meeting of the Patient Welfare Committee in Ner Chowk Medical College for the last four years and the irregularities in Chammiyana Super Specialty Hospital in Shimla.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popular program ‘Mann Ki Baat’ was heard by Jairam Thakur on Sunday (June 26) morning with party workers in Panchkula, Haryana.
