Kedarnath News: After the disaster in Kedarnath Dham, huge changes are being seen in the temperature here. Earlier, due to timely snowfall and rains in Dham, the temperature remained correct. The incidents of breaking of glacier were not revealed. At the same time, for a few years, the incidents of glacier cracking in Dham are coming to the fore again and again. Along with this, flora and fauna are also on the verge of extinction due to damage to the bugyals here. Environmental experts are also worried about the future due to no work being done on the environment in Kedarnath Dham after the disaster.
Nine years have passed since the Kedarnath disaster. Since then till today the reconstruction work is going on in full swing in the Dham. Continuous work is being done to make the Dham beautiful and divine, but with these reconstruction works and increasing human activities, heli services have spoiled the health of the Dham. No work is being done in the direction of saving the environment here, due to which the hills of Kedarnath have started moving slowly.
Plastic waste is causing huge damage
The land of Kedarnath is the land of parties. That’s why this place is known as Kedar. Here, along with the bugyals, the survival of flora and fauna is very important. If these things end, then the condition of the abode will gradually deteriorate and along with the nature, man will have to face huge losses. Meat and grass are ending in Kedarnath Dham, due to which the hills of the Dham have started to move slowly. The excavation being done in the Bugyalas, the reconstruction work going on in the Dham and the plastic waste being thrown here are believed to be the main reasons for this.
Today the species of flora in Dham are on the verge of extinction, while the tailless rat found in Bugyalas, which is called Himalayan Pika, is also rarely seen. The reason for this is that human activities are having a profound effect on the health of the Himalayas, which is not a good sign for the future. Environmental lovers, scientists and environmentalists are expressing deep concern about this.
No efforts were made to save the Himalayas
Environmental expert Devraghavendra Badri said that in the nine years after the disaster, reconstruction work was done at Kedarnath Dham at a rapid pace, while human activities picked up pace. Along with this, there was a continuous increase in heli services, but no efforts were made to save the Himalayas. Along with the central and state government, the policy makers did not even understand the need to think about it. Today there has been a lot of change in the temperature of Kedarnath Dham. Himalaya’s health is deteriorating.
He said that the grass found in Kedarnath Dham is of a special type. In botany it is called moss grass. It works to bind the land. Along with this, it also keeps the eco system right here. Told that this mass grass prevents soil erosion and helps in keeping the temperature of the Himalayas stable. Kedarnath Dham is surrounded by hills from all sides. Landslide is happening here slowly. Human pressure has increased here. This grass is trampled on the way to Bhairavnath Temple, Vasukital and Garudchatti.
Devraghavendra Badri said that tents have been set up after digging in the Bugyals. At the places where tents have been set up, no work is done to revive the bugyals, due to which water seeps in and landslides occur. He said that meat grass takes time to grow in the Himalayan regions. The temperature here keeps on changing. In such a situation, it takes a long time for this grass to grow. In the places where construction works have taken place, the meat grass has also ended. Nothing has been done to compensate for this.
Himalayan pika is on the verge of extinction
Kedarnath. Himalayan pika has a special contribution in maintaining the Himalayan ecosystem. This animal is a link between the rat and the rabbit, which is seen in the bugyals, but now its species is slowly on the verge of extinction. Different types of herbs are found in the Himalayas. These herbs are the food of the Himalayan pika. After eating these herbs, it proves helpful in keeping the urine and feces out of it. Due to the throwing of chips packets, Bisleri bottles on the Kedarnath Yatra route, changes are also being seen in its life. The taste of its mouth has deteriorated and its existence is in danger. Himalayan pika’s life is in danger due to single use plastic in Kedarnath pilgrimage.
Avalanche caused by the roar of heli services
Kedarnath. Avalanche incidents are continuously coming to the fore in the hills of Kedarnath Dham. For this, environmentalists consider the reason for the change in temperature in the Dham. If environmentalist Jagat Singh Jangli is to be believed, the temperature of Kedarnath Dham is increasing due to global warming. Glaciers are slipping. Due to uncontrolled people going to Kedarnath Dham, the environment is getting damaged. Helicopter services are working like taxis in the Himalayan region, while their flights should be used for special emergency services.
There are huge glaciers in the Himalayas. Kedarnath means the land of parties. Heavy machines are being used here. Earlier the temperature of Kedarnath Dham used to be correct, due to which incidents of breaking of glacier did not come to the fore, but now due to increase in temperature, incidents of cracking of glacier are coming to the fore. Said that the visit to Kedarnath Dham should be controlled. There is a need to pay attention in the Himalayan regions.
Heli services spreading two types of pollution
Helicopter services are considered important for Kedarnath Yatra, while two types of pollution are also spreading due to their services. Which is proving fatal for the environment. According to environmental expert Dev Raghavendra Badri, two types of pollution are spreading through heli services. The first is noise pollution. The faster the helicopter services run, the faster the glaciers will be affected. Second, the carbon released from its oil is also harmful. Heli services for Kedarnath Dham are operating like taxis. Kedarnath Dham is facing heavy losses due to the operation of heli services.
Need to plant Bhojpatra trees in Kedarnath area
There is a need to plant Bhojpatra trees in Kedarnath area. Due to this, where the environmental balance will be maintained, it also prevents landslides from happening. Bhojpatra trees have dried up in Kedarnath area, while Thuner plants are also dying. All this is happening due to unruly passengers and construction work in Kedarnath. For this, along with the central and state government, the district administration needs to work. Bhojpatra and Thuner trees should be planted in Kedarnath area.
