Police detained student in Kulgam, accused of inciting sentiments against India

Kulgam News: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday claimed that it has stopped a young student from joining terrorist organizations in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district. Police say that he was detained after monitoring the youth on social media and other online platforms for several months.

Police said the student from Kulgam is currently pursuing M.Sc. in Lab Science. doing. He has been detained by Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) on charges of propagating radical ideas and misusing social media to incite public sentiments against the Indian government.

“Reliable sources have revealed that Bhat Navidul Ali s/o Ali Mohammad Bhat, resident of Tajipora-Mohammedpora, Kulgam district, currently pursuing M.Sc. in Lab Science, is a member of the extremist ideology,” the CIK said in a statement. It is misusing social media for propaganda, the purpose of which is to instigate the common people against the Government of India and promote terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.”

Police said, “The person is in constant touch with some cyber/virtual entities, who are radicalizing and inspiring the youth to join terrorism and terrorist ranks.”

Police said, “Besides, the person also consumes radical material available on the internet. It has also been revealed that he is about to join the terrorist ranks.
