MP News in Hindi: The Gwalior Bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court has requested the Central Government to reduce the age of consensual relationship from 18 to 16 years. The court made this request while accepting the petition to quash the FIR lodged against the coaching operator accused of raping a minor. Justice Deepak Aggarwal of the Gwalior Bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court said that the Indian Penal Code was amended in 2013. In this, the age of making a relationship with consent was increased from 16 years to 18 years. He said that due to internet media, young men and women are reaching puberty early. Being attracted to each other, they also make a relationship with consent.
What does the court have to say
The court said that in such cases the youth cannot be considered as an accused. It is only a matter of the age at which they come into contact with consent. The Central Government is requested to reduce the age of consent of the victim from 18 to 16 years. With this injustice can be redressed.
Justice Deepak Aggarwal has said in his order that nowadays in many criminal cases the age of the victim is less than 18 years. Because of this many times injustice is being done to the adolescent youth. Tell me, the coaching operator against whom the rape FIR has been cancelled, was in jail for three years till the FIR was cancelled. His bail plea was rejected 10 times. An FIR was lodged against the accused six months after the incident.
