Chhattisgarh News: The conversion case has caught fire in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar. The tribals have passed a resolution not to give Marghat land to those who have converted to Christianity. He has demanded the collector to implement the proposal. The villagers of Koylibeda Panchayat, who reached the Collectorate on Tuesday, told that the decision has been taken by passing a resolution in the Gram Sabha meeting. According to the decision, people who have converted to Christianity in the village will not be given land to build a marghat. Villagers say that the age-old tribal tradition of Bastar is in danger due to conversion. Due to the neglect of the administration, tribals are adopting other religions and churches are being opened in every village.
Proposal not to give land for Marghat passed
Villagers have mobilized against the conversion. He warned that in case of death in families that have converted to Christianity, the dead body will not be allowed to be buried in the village. The villagers submitted a memorandum in the name of Bastar Collector to the Deputy Collector in Jagdalpur. Tribal leader Mahesh Kashyap had also reached along with the villagers. He retaliated on the statement of Excise Minister Kawasi Lakhma. The minister had accused the Bastar of doing politics over the death of the villagers. Mahesh Kashyap said that officers write letters to Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel in the matter of increasing conversions in the district.
People demand to approve the name of the Collector
He said that there is tension in the village due to conversion. In such a situation, what other proof does Minister Kawasi Lakhma need. He called the minister’s statement on linking the conversion issue with politics unfortunate. Kawasi Lakhma himself is a tribal leader and knows that due to religious conversions in Bastar, the culture and tradition of tribals is in danger. Despite this, instead of opposing it, Kawasi Lakhma is engaged in promoting conversion. Mahesh Kashyap said that after passing the proposal in the village assembly of Koylibeda panchayat, it reached the collectorate. They demanded that the decision taken in the Gram Sabha should be legally recognized.
