What will happen to these 5 leaders of Rajasthan Congress on ceasefire in Sachin Pilot-Ashok Gehlot?

The political war going on between Sachin Pilot and Ashok Gehlot for 35 months has come to an end. After a marathon meeting which lasted for 4 hours at the residence of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, both the factions agreed to the reconciliation. What will be the role of both in future, the high command will decide. 

The meeting started at 6 pm on Monday at 10 Rajaji Marg, Kharge’s official residence. First of all, Ashok Gehlot got a chance to present his side. Rahul Gandhi was also present in the meeting with Kharge. After listening to Gehlot’s arguments, the high command called Sachin Pilot.

According to sources, the pilot reiterated the old demands in the meeting and also mentioned the ultimatum, but Rahul assured him that everything would be fine. Another meeting may be held at Kharge’s residence in the coming days to decide the role of Sachin Pilot and the election strategy.

1. Govind Singh Dotasara- When the Gehlot government was formed in Rajasthan in 2018, Dotasara was included in the cabinet. Dotasara is the MLA from Laxmangarh in Sikar since 2008. In 2020, when the leader of the Pilot group went to Manesar, he was assigned the role of state president by the high command.

Dotasara has so far failed to unite the organization. The leaders and MLAs of the Sachin Pilot group decide the program without asking them. Recently, a video of him went viral, in which he had a dispute with Congress MLA Rajendra Parikh. 

The MLAs allege that Dotasara works only at the behest of the Chief Minister, due to which there is a lot of factionalism in the state organization. Not only this, since becoming the president, Dotasara has been in a lot of controversies. He was accused of settling family members in the RAS exam. 

On the other hand, Dotasara had called female teachers quarrelsome from a platform. On which there was a lot of uproar. In the Akbar-Maharana Pratap dispute, Dotasara Karni had also come on the army’s radar.

In the formula that is being discussed in the Congress, it is being said that Sachin Pilot or his close friend can get the chair of the president. Even if Gehlot’s veto is imposed, it is considered almost impossible for Dotasara to survive.

After Gehlot’s veto, the high command can make a new face the president. 

2. Pratap Singh Khachariyawas- In 2018, Pratap Singh Khachariyawas was made a minister from Sachin Pilot quota. He also got a heavy ministry like transport at that time. Khachariawas is the MLA from Civil Lines seat of Jaipur. He has been an MLA from this seat from 2008 to 2013.

Pratap Singh, coming from Rajput fraternity, took entry in politics through student politics. In 1992-93, he won the Rajasthan University Students’ Union elections. After this he came into Congress politics.

In 2020, when Sachin Pilot went to Manesar to open a front against the Gehlot government, Khachariawas sided with Gehlot. Not only this, he fiercely attacked the Sachin Pilot group in favor of Gehlot. Khachariawas also raised questions on the return of the Pilot group.

When the cabinet was to be reshuffled in 2021, there was a crisis on the chair of Khachariawas. The reason was – no group preferred the name of Khachariawas. Although, the high command saved his chair at that time, but he was demoted in the division of the department.

According to sources, if the agreement between Sachin Pilot and Ashok Gehlot is finalized, then cabinet expansion can be done soon. This will be the last extension of the Congress government. In the cabinet expansion, there is talk of a crisis on the chair of Khachariawas this time too. 

3. Shanti Dhariwal- On 25 September 2022, Shanti Dhariwal, a senior minister in the Ashok Gehlot government, became famous across the country. The reason was- to get 80 MLAs to resign by blowing the bugle of rebellion against the Congress high command.

Actually, Sonia Gandhi sent Mallikarjun Kharge and Ajay Maken from Delhi to Jaipur to conduct a meeting of the Rajasthan Congress Legislature Party and propose a line. When Kharge and Maken reached Jaipur, 90 Congress MLAs refused to attend the meeting.

After some time the news came that all the rebel MLAs have reached Minister Shanti Dhariwal’s house and have sent their resignation from there to the assembly speaker. The observer on behalf of the high command canceled the meeting and handed over the complete report to the Congress President. 

The case of indiscipline against 4 people including Shanti Dhariwal, Mahesh Joshi is still pending. Sachin Pilot is demanding action on all these. Dhariwal is considered a leader very close to Ashok Gehlot and is the MLA from Om Birla’s stronghold Kota.

Dhariwal also has a heavy department like UDH, but also remains in headlines because of his controversial statements. In the political circles, it is believed that Dhariwal’s departure is certain in the agreement between Sachin Pilot and Ashok Gehlot. 

4. Ramesh Meena- Ramesh Meena, who came to Congress from BSP in 2009, became close to Sachin Pilot after 2014. After the formation of the Congress government in 2018, Meena was made a minister from the Sachin Pilot quota and given the responsibility of the Food Department.

In 2020, Ramesh Meena went to Manesar with Sachin Pilot. Because of this, his chair also went away, but when the cabinet was expanded in 2021, Ramesh Meena’s stature was further increased. Meena got the responsibility of Sachin Pilot’s Panchayati Raj and rural development.

In such a situation, after the agreement between Sachin Pilot and Ashok Gehlot, speculations are being made that Meena will also be shunned. He may also be demoted in cabinet expansion. In the last cabinet expansion of this government, Pilot will include those close to him who are still with him. If this happens, the post of cabinet minister can also be taken away from Meena.

5. Vishvendra Singh- When Sachin Pilot went to Manesar, he used to issue the statement of the then minister Vishvendra Singh on his behalf. Vishvendra Singh, MLA from Bharatpur’s Deeng-Kumher seat, comes from the royal family. Vishvendra Singh has also been a member of the Lok Sabha.

In the cabinet expansion of 2021, Singh was included in the cabinet from Sachin Pilot quota. After everything went well for a few days, Singh also changed sides. Singh recited odes in praise of Gehlot and told him to remain the chief minister till 2023.

His son Anirudh has opened a front against Singh. On social media, Anirudh constantly tweets against the Congress high command, his father and Ashok Gehlot. 

In the new equation of cabinet expansion, Singh Gehlot can exit from the government. However, Formula High Command is yet to be removed.

What can be the formula to persuade the pilot?
Both Sachin Pilot and Ashok Gehlot have left the decision to the high command. It is believed that soon Mallikarjun Kharge will hand over new responsibilities to some other leaders of Rajasthan including Gehlot and Pilot. The discussion of two formulas regarding the pilot is in full swing in the political circles.

1. State President’s chair in Rajasthan- This is the biggest discussion about Sachin Pilot. There is talk of making Sachin Pilot the state president again. In this situation Gehlot may remain the chief minister, but his political clout will be limited.

Pilot has given up the chair of CM. In such a situation, from ticket distribution to all decisions, the pilot will get preference. However, the consent of the pilot is necessary in this. The Pilot faction says that the government should first fulfill the demand.

The pilot has placed three demands in front of the Gehlot government. Disbanding the RPSC, the organization that conducts examinations for government jobs, and taking action against Vasundhara Raje are important.

2. Remain in the center till 2024, then the face of Rajasthan- It is a custom to change the government in Rajasthan. It is believed that Sachin Pilot would hardly take any such responsibility, in which the blame for the defeat after the elections would fall on him as well. 

In this situation, it is being said that Pilot can come in the role of National General Secretary and will do Delhi politics till 2023 elections. During this, the Congress party will take care of his supporters. That means tickets for his supporters will not be deducted. 

Kamal Nath had also made such an offer to him in the recent past, but Pilot refused at that time.
