Cyber Fraud: Railway Board has issued an important warning for its employees and pensioners. According to the board, some cyber criminals are contacting the employees by posing as senior railway officials. Through phone calls, SMS and WhatsApp messages, they are trying to obtain personal and banking related information so that financial fraud can be carried out.
Fraud being done in the name of officials
In the statement issued, it has been said that fraudsters are sending fake messages using the names of railway officials. In these messages, people are lured for PPO update, KYC verification or additional pension benefits. On this pretext, bank details, OTP and other confidential information are asked from people.
The board has made it clear that no authorized railway official asks for bank account number, password or OTP from anyone through phone, message or social media. Any such request should be immediately considered suspicious.
Advice for employees and pensioners
The railway administration has especially asked pensioners to be careful. It has been clarified that Railways does not send any link or message to update PPO or service records. If you receive any such message, do not trust it. The board has also appealed that employees and pensioners should also make their family members aware about these cyber fraud methods so that no one unknowingly gets trapped in the trap.
Report suspicious calls immediately
If anyone receives a suspicious call or message, he has been advised to immediately report to the police cyber cell and the concerned administrative office. In recent months, many employees have suffered financial losses after sharing confidential information, making this issue even more serious.
Preparation of new legal framework for cyber security
Meanwhile, Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently said that consideration is being given to creating a comprehensive legal framework to deal with the changing cyber threats. During an event organized at India AI Summit 2026, he emphasized that IT and telecom companies will have to take cyber security seriously.
