NASA Research: A NASA rocket team has discovered a hidden electric field on Earth. Which plays an important role in driving the polar wind. It is capable of launching charged particles into space at supersonic speed. The US space agency had to search for several decades to find this out. NASA scientists had imagined the existence of an electric field on Earth more than 60 years ago.
According to NDTV report, the electric field around the earth has long been seen to produce a kind of polar wind. Which carries particles into space at supersonic speed. In such a situation, scientists call it "Ambipolar electric field" It is said.
Know what was revealed in NASA’s research?
In an article published in the journal Nature, it was told that a team of international scientists of NASA has discovered this ambipolar electric field through data collected through suborbital rocket. The electric field on the earth was imagined 60 years ago. It has been discovered due to NASA’s Endurance mission. Based on the data received from the rocket, scientists have measured the strength of the ambipolar electric field. Scientists say that this has revealed how the upper atmosphere layer affects the ionosphere."viewsHeaderText" style="text-align: justify;">Raising the atmosphere into space – Glyn Collinson
Glyn Collinson, a scientist at the Goddard Space Flight Center in Maine, says "Something must be pulling these particles out of the atmosphere. Scientists suspect that a not yet discovered electric field may be at work. Collinson said, "It is like a conveyor belt, lifting the atmosphere into space."
Earth is not a small piece of soil in space
Scientist Glyn Collinson says, "Any planet with an atmosphere should have an ambipolar region. Now that we’ve measured it, we can start to learn how it has shaped our planet, as well as other planets, over time. The Earth isn’t just a little piece of dirt sitting idle in space. It’s a gravitational field surrounded by all kinds of fields, Collinson said. We don’t know a lot about gravity, especially given how spread out it is, but without gravity we wouldn’t have a planet. Gravity also helps keep the atmosphere tight against the surface.
