America has announced to impose 10 percent tariff on goods purchased from India and 16 other countries. America says that this step has been taken on the issue of use of forced labor in the production of these goods. US Trade Representative Jameson Greer on Friday announced new tariffs on 60 countries under Section 301 of the Trade Act. This announcement has been made a day before the expiry of the 10 percent additional duty already imposed on all countries.
Tariff imposed on 60 countries under Trade Act
USTR’s statement said that on the instructions of US President Donald Trump, Jameson Greer has taken the step of imposing tariffs on 60 countries under Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974. According to the Trump administration, this action was taken because these countries failed to effectively enforce and ban the import of goods made with forced labor.

If Reciprocal Tariffs are rejected then 10% tariff will be imposed.
