The number of Indian immigrants is constantly increasing in America as well as in Western countries. They also have a significant role in the US economy. According to a report, it has come to light that Indian-Americans have become the highest income earning ethnic group in America.

Indians also hold important positions in the US economic and political system, such as Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Google CEO Sundar Pichai and Starbucks CEO Laxman Narasimhan. These important people of Indian origin have worked to create a positive environment in favor of India in America, but this is what is bothering Pakistan from within. This is the reason why the growing population of Indians in America has become a tension for Pakistan experts.

Pakistani American economist Shahid Javed Burki says that America’s growing population is a threat to Pakistan. Burki has been the Vice President of the World Bank as well as the Acting Finance Minister in Pakistan’s caretaker government. In an article published in the Pakistani newspaper Tribune, Burki said that the Indian diaspora is a strength for Modi.

In the Tribune article, Burki also said that Pakistan’s policy makers will have to understand how a large number of Indian-origin people, not only in India but also in Western countries, are reacting to the rise of Hindu nationalism by following Modi’s footsteps. Burki clearly says that there is no doubt that the growing population of Indians in America will affect Pakistan.

While spewing venom against India, Burki said that India is hostile towards Pakistan. While also referring to the US census data, Burki estimated that at present 40 lakh people of Indian origin live in America, which is 1.4 percent of the American population.

Burkey says that the population of Indian immigrants in America has increased the most in the last 100 years. By the year 1920, the population of Americans of Indian origin was 6400. The largest population of Indians in America is present in Seattle, East, New Jersey and California region.

Burkey also said that Indian Sikh Ajay Banga was appointed as the President of the World Bank in 2023 and it was also described as the growing power of Indians. The Chief Economist and Senior Vice President of Development Economics of the bank is Indermeet Gill of Indian origin. He said that in the 1980s, there were three people of Pakistani origin as Vice Presidents in the World Bank, one of whom was himself and till then there was no Indian there. There was not even a director.

Burkey also mentioned Kamala Harris, who is the Democratic Party’s candidate for the post of President. She is also of Indian origin. Kamala Harris is not the first Indian American to contest the presidential election. IT entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy and former US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley also stood for the Republican presidential nomination.
