Moreover, this request has been made after Pakistan tried to mediate during the war between America and Iran. If Pakistan’s request for financial assistance is accepted by US Finance Minister Scott Besant, then it can prove to be a big relief for Pakistan’s weak economy. According to Reuters, this will increase Pakistan’s reserves, reduce pressure on Pakistan’s rupee and reduce its dependence on multilateral finance. However, along with this, Pakistan will also have to continue strict fiscal and monetary policies under the IMF program.

At present, neither Pakistan nor America has issued any official statement on this issue. However, Pakistan Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb said that in his meeting with Scott Besant this week, he raised the issue of risks to Pakistan’s economy due to regional geopolitical developments.
