Washington: NASA has shared important information about Indian-American astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore and told when they will return from space. NASA said that Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore will return to Earth next year i.e. in February 2025.

What is the whole matter?

Astronaut Sunita Williams is stuck in space. She is 58 years old and her colleague Butch Wilmore is also stuck there with her. Both of them have gone to space on a mission of the American space agency NASA. Sunita Williams went on a NASA mission on June 5, 2024 in a spacecraft named Boeing Starliner. Sunita was the pilot of the spacecraft, while Wilmore was the mission commander.

Both of them were supposed to return to Earth after staying for 8 days in the International Space Station (ISS) but in the meantime their spacecraft malfunctioned. After this, both of them got stuck in space. NASA had already said that it will be decided after September 24 whether Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore will be able to return to Earth or not.

Recently, NASA said that engineers are evaluating a new computer model for the ‘Starliner thruster’. NASA said that every kind of risk would be analyzed while making the final decision. Boeing said earlier this month that extensive testing of the ‘thruster’ in space and on the ground has shown that Starliner is capable of bringing astronauts back safely. This was Boeing’s first test flight with a crew on board. After the ‘Space Shuttle’ is retired, NASA has entrusted Boeing and SpaceX with the task of transporting astronauts to the space station. ‘SpaceX’ has been doing this work since 2020.
