This first case was reported on Thursday in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. This is the first case of monkeypox in Pakistan this year. The person who has symptoms has recently returned to his country from Saudi Arabia. According to the Pakistani Health Ministry, monkeypox has been confirmed in the youth, he is being treated.
Samples for other people too
According to the Pakistani Health Ministry, he returned from Saudi Arabia on August 3. After this, the investigation revealed that he had ampox. Samples of all the people who came in contact with him have also been taken. An advisory has also been issued for the local citizens. Strict monitoring has been ordered on all incoming and outgoing routes.
A matter of concern for India too
This virus spreads just like corona. It can infect others even by touching it. Finding such a case in Pakistan is a matter of concern for India as well. However, no such case has been reported in India yet. 27 cases of ampox were reported in India between January 2022 and June 2024. Last year, 9 cases of ampox were reported in Pakistan. This is a matter of great concern for India as people live in many countries.
1100 people have lost their lives
Even 2 years ago, this disease had caused a lot of havoc. It made people very sick in more than 70 countries. The World Health Organization had declared ampox an emergency. The worst outbreak so far in Congo was in January 2023. So far 27,000 cases have been reported and more than 1,100 people have died, most of whom are children. Its initial symptoms are fever. After this, symptoms like headache, swelling, back pain and muscle pain can also be seen. After the fever subsides, rashes appear on the body, which often start from the face and spread to other parts of the body.
