Gangster Nitish Kaushal arrested in America as soon as his name appeared in FBI’s most wanted list.

Nitish Kaushal Arrested: America’s investigative agency FBI has arrested gangster Nitish Kaushal associated with India. Nitish Kaushal is an alleged member of Punjab’s notorious Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gang and a few days ago he was included in the FBI’s ‘most wanted’ list. He faces serious charges like murder, kidnapping, drug smuggling, extortion, arms smuggling, money laundering and human trafficking.

FBI confirmed the arrest

The FBI said on Thursday that American law enforcement agencies have arrested Nitish Kaushal from Vermont. The agency has also tagged him as “Captured” on his profile on its official website. However, detailed information about when and which agency made the arrest has not been made public at present.

He is accused in many serious cases

According to FBI, Nitish Kaushal Jaggu is an active member of Bhagwanpuria Organized Crime Group (Bhagwanpuria OCG). This gang started from Punjab, but its activities spread to many areas of America including California. The investigating agency alleges that Kaushal carried out kidnappings, violent attacks and other criminal incidents on behalf of the gang.

Case registered under RICO law

On June 25, 2026, the US Federal Court of Los Angeles issued an arrest warrant against Nitish Kaushal under RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act). This law has been made to take action against the entire network related to organized crime. Under this, there is a provision of strict punishment for becoming a part of any criminal organization and continuously being involved in criminal activities.

What is the RICO law?

The RICO law was implemented in the US in 1970. Its objective is to take action not only against the individual who commits the crime, but also against the entire criminal network and its operators. Under this law, those found guilty in cases of extortion, bribery, fraud, money laundering and other organized crimes can face up to 20 years in jail on each charge and confiscation of illegal assets.

Big action after Operation Hard Ball

Nitish Kaushal’s arrest comes at a time when, a few weeks ago, US agencies had arrested 15 members of three organized crime gangs linked to India under “Operation Hard Ball”. The FBI says that action against networks related to organized crime will continue in the future.
