‘Hezbollah thought we were weak but…’, Israeli ambassador warned

‘Israel is trying to bring about a ceasefire’

Reuven Azar said, ‘Israel is currently trying to bring about a ceasefire. Hezbollah has been attacking Israel for the past 11 months. Our aim is to implement the United Nations Security Resolution 1701. It states that Hezbollah is not allowed to deploy on the Israeli border. If they agree to this, there will be no war. But this has not happened even after continuous efforts. Due to these attacks, many people have had to leave their homes. Those people now want to go back to their homes.’

‘1700 military bases were targeted’

He said, “Israel has targeted 1700 military bases. Hezbollah has hidden weapons and missiles in the house in violation of international law. We have collected information. We had asked the people there to vacate the place immediately.”

He further said, ‘The situation in Gaza was different. There Hamas has fired on people and prevented them from leaving their homes. The situation here is different. According to the reports of the Lebanese government, five lakh people have been evacuated.’

“We organized ourselves”

Reuven Azar further said, ‘After October 7, we cannot deal with all the threats at once. We have a strong army, but it is not that big. We organized ourselves. We had to deal with the threats coming from Gaza. The Hamas army has been defeated there. They still keep attacking us.
