Pakistan Army Chief : In Pakistan, no matter who is in power, it is always the army that is in power. We are not saying this, a Pakistani leader himself has revealed this. The latest case is related to retired General Qamar Javed Bajwa, who was the army chief of Pakistan. Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif made a disclosure about this on Thursday. He said that General Bajwa had threatened in November 2022 while he was the army chief. Bajwa had said that extend my tenure for the second time or else I will impose martial law in the country. Khawaja Asif said this at a time when Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Ahmed Khan had claimed that General Bajwa did not want to extend his tenure for the second time. This disclosure was made while replying to him.

Khawaja Asif told Geo News that he remembers it completely. General Bajwa had said in a meeting that he would impose martial law in Pakistan if his tenure was not extended. In fact, Malik Ahmed Khan had said that his close friend Bajwa had not asked for an extension. He said that it is possible that some details have slipped Khawaja Asif’s mind. Speaking on a Geo News show, Asif said that he has a good memory.
Bajwa wanted to make someone else the chief in place of Asim Munir
Talking to the channel, Asif also said that General Bajwa wanted an extension of service from 6 months to 1 year, so that imran khan Arrangements should be made to break the deadlock, while on the US tour, General Bajwa had said that he did not want extension of service. Khawaja Asif also revealed that Bajwa wanted Sahir Shamshad Mirza to be made the Army Chief in place of the current Army Chief General Asim Munir. Khawaja Asif also said that Bajwa had close relations with Faiz Hamid, who was the ISI Chief. Bajwa wanted Faiz to become the Army Chief after him. However, under the rule of General Munir, the Pakistani Army has arrested General Faiz and he is being court-martialed.
