Despite this, people in these countries consume and produce alcohol secretly. Smuggling of alcohol is common in many Muslim countries. Recently, Saudi Arabia has legalized the sale of alcohol, but here alcohol is available only for foreign democrats.

The WHO report on global alcohol consumption has mentioned high alcohol consumption in many Muslim countries. According to the WHO, there are many Arabic countries including UAE, Tunisia, Sudan and Bahrain, where per capita alcohol consumption has increased. According to a survey conducted in Jordan, only 3% of university students consume alcohol. Alcohol is banned in India’s neighboring country Pakistan, despite this, alcohol consumption is increasing in Pakistan. In Pakistan, the punishment for consuming alcohol is 80 lashes.

Consumption of alcohol as medicine in Muslim countries
All over the world, alcohol consumption is considered harmful to health. At present, there are some Muslim countries where it is consumed as medicine. In many countries, alcohol consumption is allowed only as a medicine. Alcohol consumption is banned in Bangladesh as well, but often there are reports of alcohol smuggling from Bangladesh. Although alcohol is banned for common people in Saudi Arabia, but in the year 2019, when alcohol was completely banned inside Saudi, 19 people died due to consumption of poisonous alcohol. In such a situation, it is clear that despite all the strict restrictions, alcohol is sold and consumed secretly even in Muslim countries.

These Muslim countries have the highest consumption of alcohol
The WHO report states that UAE, Tunisia, Sudan and Bahrain are Muslim countries where the highest consumption of alcohol takes place. Along with these, alcohol consumption is increasing day by day in almost all countries. Many Muslim countries are now relaxing the rules related to alcohol. Many Muslim countries have also reduced the tax imposed on alcohol.

People of these countries drink the most alcohol
If we talk about the highest alcohol consumption globally, then according to WHO, Latvians consume the most alcohol in the world. The average alcohol consumption in this country is 13.19 liters per person. Moldova is second in terms of alcohol consumption, where the consumption of alcohol is around 12.85 liters per person every year. After this are Germany, Lithuania and Ireland, where people drink the most alcohol. If we talk about alcohol consumption on the basis of religion, then in India, people of Christian religion drink the most alcohol, followed by Sikhs and Hindus. Muslims are currently far behind in terms of drinking alcohol.
