According to the Times of Israel, a 40-year-old Indian man was found dead in the Katamon area of ​​Jerusalem on Thursday. According to the police, the victim was lying on the floor of a house with blood spread around him.

Police engaged in investigation of the incident

“A 40-year-old Indian national was reported found dead in an apartment in the Katamon area of ​​Jerusalem. Following this, officers from the Moria Police Station immediately arrived at the scene and began a preliminary investigation with forensic investigators,” the Israeli Police Spokesperson Unit said in an emailed response. “Preliminary investigation at the scene indicates that the incident is of criminal nature,” police said.

Israeli citizen arrested

Police further said that Israeli police officers soon identified the Eilat resident and arrested him on suspicion of involvement in the murder. The suspect has been taken into custody for questioning. However, his identity has not been revealed yet. The identity of the Indian migrant worker has also not been revealed yet. After the incident, Jerusalem District Commander Avshalom Peled also arrived at the scene and took stock of the situation with the district commanders. After the initial assessment, he instructed to “continue the investigation” and handed it over to the Jerusalem District Central Unit (YAMAR).

In a video released by police from the scene, the commander of the Moria police station, Chief Superintendent Yuval Reuven, says that “at the Moria station in the Jerusalem district, an incident was reported in which a man was found badly bruised in a home.” Rouven said, “Police officers arrived at the scene, cordoned off the area and began a preliminary investigation. During the investigation, a murder suspect was located. As a result of the investigation, the suspect involved in the murder was immediately arrested. Currently, additional investigative operations are underway to ascertain the truth of the incident.”
