India’s ultimatum in the United Nations regarding the Strait of Hormuz – ‘Attacks will not be tolerated…’

India’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Parvataneni Harish, has put forward India’s clear stand regarding the ongoing war in Iran and the Gulf region. He said that India had expressed deep concern since the fighting started in this area on 28 February 2026. India had appealed to all the countries to exercise restraint, avoid worsening the situation and pay maximum attention to the safety of the common people.

He said that India has been continuously saying that the best way to reduce such wars is through dialogue and diplomacy. India also urged all countries to resolve mutual differences peacefully and avoid any kind of aggressive action. Also, it is important to respect the sovereignty and borders of every country.

Commercial ships were also targeted

Harish expressed grief over the fact that commercial ships were also targeted during this war. He said that Indian sailors working on ships also lost their lives in these attacks, which is very sad. India believes that attacking merchant ships is absolutely wrong, because it puts the lives of innocent people in danger and also affects international trade. He specifically mentioned the Strait of Hormuz, which is a very important sea route for the world.

India clearly said that movement and trade on this route should be without any hindrance. Any kind of obstruction or threat here is against international law and cannot be accepted. India again appealed to all countries to respect international law and ensure that the movement of ships and global trade through the Strait of Hormuz continues to operate safely and smoothly.
