Tennessee University Shooting: One person was killed and nine were injured in a shooting that took place on Saturday (October 12) during the homecoming ceremony of Tennessee State University in Nashville, USA. This incident happened near the university campus at around 5 pm. After the ceremony, suddenly there was chaos in the crowd due to firing between two groups.
Metro Nashville Police said the shooting occurred between groups of people following an event held at Tennessee State University. He said that the cartridge casings found at the spot showed that the firing had taken place on a road near the university. However, it is not believed that the shooting is directly related to the homecoming ceremony.
Minors also included among the injured
A 24-year-old man died in the shooting, while nine others were taken to local hospitals. According to the police, the injured include three minors aged 12 to 14 years, whose condition is not serious.
Metro Nashville Police said some of the injured may have been involved in the shooting, while others may have been innocent bystanders. The number of injuries ranged from minor to serious, with some victims suffering injuries. A handgun has also been recovered from the spot.
Police started investigating the case
At the same time, the people present there told that after hearing the sound of firing, people were running and there was an atmosphere of panic. A young man named Jashawna Rucker said that I am thankful that I did not die and I was not shot.
Officials said firefighters used belts to help the injured. At present the police has started investigation into the firing. Metro Nashville Police Commander Anthony McClain condemned the violence, calling it “unfortunate” and urging such incidents to stop.
