Israel-Saudi Arabia are making progress in improving their relations, will friendship be possible between the two? Know

Israel-South Arabia Relations: Recently a report has come out in which progress has been discussed in efforts to normalize relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia. According to the report of Haaretz, an Israeli newspaper, the normalization of relations between the two countries could be linked to the ceasefire agreement, which could also end the Israeli war in Gaza. The report quoted sources as saying that Israel has agreed to a vague commitment towards an independent Palestinian state on the demand of Saudi Arabia.

However, Barak Ravid, a journalist associated with Axios, has refuted this report quoting a Saudi Arabian official on the social media platform X. According to the Post, the official said, ‘It is completely baseless to suggest that the Saudi leadership has changed its commitment to the establishment of an independent Palestine. Saudi Arabia has said that it will strive to end the ongoing war with Israel in Gaza and ensure the right of Palestinian citizens to an independent state.

What does the Saudi Crown Prince say?,

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has publicly termed Israel’s attacks and actions in Gaza as genocide. The Crown Prince said that there cannot be normal relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel without recognizing the Palestinian state that makes East Jerusalem its capital.

According to Haaretz, sources close to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the Saudi Crown Prince is personally not interested in giving formal recognition to the Palestinian country of Gaza. This issue is important only to garner domestic political and religious support.

America’s Biden administration tried to broker a compromise

The Atlantic reports that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has told US Secretary of State Antony Blinken that he is personally not interested in the ‘Palestinian issue’. But the people of Saudi Arabia give importance to it, so it should be taken seriously.

It is noteworthy that the administration of US President Joe Biden has been trying to normalize relations between the two countries for many years, but till now they have not been successful in this. At the same time, now Donald Trump’s rule is going to come in America soon, so Biden does not have enough time to make any agreement.
