Israeli strike on Beirut: Israel carried out targeted attacks in Lebanon’s capital Beirut on Saturday (September 21). Lebanon’s Health Ministry said that at least 31 people, including 3 children and 7 women, were killed in an Israeli airstrike in a suburb of Beirut on Friday (September 20). This attack is the deadliest attack in the conflict between Hezbollah and Israel.
According to a Reuters report, Hezbollah said on Friday (September 20) night that the dead included 16 of its members, including leader Ibrahim Aqeel and another top commander Ahmed Wahbi. The attack has sharply escalated the conflict between Israel and the Iran-backed group.
39 people died in the blasts in the walkie-talkie
At the same time, this week 39 people have died in Lebanon due to explosions in pagers and walkie-talkies of Hezbollah members. While, more than 3,000 people have been injured. Hezbollah blamed Israel for this.
Efforts are being made to rescue women and children from under the debris
Hezbollah-Transport Minister Ali Hamiyeh told the media on Friday (September 20) that at least 23 people are still missing. He said that Israeli enemies are taking the region towards war. The ministry has sent vehicles and equipment to help rescue workers dig out collapsed buildings. He said we are removing women and children from under the rubble.
So far 70 people from Lebanon have died in Israeli attack
Hezbollah issued a statement after midnight confirming Aqeel’s death. Hezbollah says 15 other members were also killed, including senior commander Wahbi. With at least 70 people killed in Lebanon this week, the country’s death toll since October has surpassed 740. The current conflict between Israel and Hezbollah is the worst since their war in 2006.
