Malaysian PM said- India did not raise the issue of Zakir Naik, said action will be taken if evidence is provided

Zakir Naik Case: Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is on a visit to India. For the first time, he has given a statement on the extradition of Zakir Naik. Anwar said that the issue of Zakir Naik was not raised by India. He said that India’s PM Modi had raised this issue many years ago. However, this is not an issue of any one person, it is an issue related to extremist sentiments. He said that if India presents any concrete evidence then they can consider taking action against Zakir Naik.

The Malaysian PM said that we cannot spoil relations for one person. During a program on Tuesday, Anwar Ibrahim was asked about Zakir Naik, in response to which he said these things. Actually, Islamic preacher Zakir Naik has currently taken refuge in Malaysia. The Malaysian PM said that his government will welcome all the evidence presented against Zakir.

Zakir has got government protection in Malaysia
Zakir Naik is wanted in India for money laundering, giving provocative speeches and spreading terrorism. In 2016, he fled from India to Saudi Arabia. From there, he went to Malaysia, where the then Malaysian PM Mahathir Mohammad provided him government protection. Anwar Ibrahim is currently considered a liberal leader, but he has been seen with Ibrahim on many occasions.

Zakir Naik wanted in India
On the other hand, Anwar said that they do not promote terrorism, they are working against terrorism along with the Indian government. Anwar said that the relations between the two countries should not be affected on this issue. Actually, in the year 2016, a terrorist incident took place in Dhaka, in which 29 people lost their lives. 5 accused were arrested in this attack. One of the accused said that he was influenced by Zakir Naik’s speeches. Only after this India started taking action against Zakir and he fled from India. Zakir Naik is wanted in many cases in India.
