Outcry due to floods in Nepal, 200 dead so far, Indian Embassy releases helpline numbers

Nepal Flood: The death toll from floods and landslides caused by rain in Nepal increased to almost 200 on Monday (September 30), while at least 30 people are still missing. Police gave this information. Incessant rains since last Friday led to floods and landslides at various places, causing devastation in the Himalayan nation. Nepal Police officials said that at least 192 people have died due to continuous rains, floods, landslides and inundation. He said that 194 other people have also been injured in this disaster across the country, while 30 others are missing.

Amidst the worsening situation due to rain in Nepal, India is also worried for its citizens. In this sequence, the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu released helpline numbers by posting it on social media platform X. It was written that Indian citizens who need help in Nepal can contact these emergency helpline numbers. These helpline numbers are- +977-9851316807, +977-9851107021, 977-9749833292.

How is India affected by Nepal floods?

Two Indian states, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, are also significantly affected by the floods in Nepal. Actually, the border of both these states meets Nepal. In the same sequence, BJP leader Giriraj Singh said that so much water has been released by Nepal in Bihar that a situation of artificial flood has arisen which will ruin and devastate Bihar. The important thing is that many rivers including Kosi, Gandak, Budhi Gandak, Bagmati, Kamla Balan are flowing from Nepal to Bihar. If we look at the statistics, every year due to excessive rainfall, situations like floods and landslides arise in Nepal.

All party meeting called in Nepal

Acting Prime Minister Prakash Man Singh called an all-party meeting on Sunday at the Prime Minister’s Office in Singh Darbar in which it was decided to intensify rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts during the disaster caused by heavy rains. The Home Ministry said that all security agencies have been deployed for relief operations after floods and landslides and personnel of Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Forces have so far rescued around 4,500 disaster-affected persons. The injured are being given free treatment and food and other emergency relief materials have been provided to other people affected by the floods.
