Terrorist attack in Pakistan, 6 soldiers including Lieutenant killed in encounter

Terrorist attack on Pakistan army: There has been a terrorist attack on the Pakistani Army in North Waziristan, which has been a stronghold of terrorists in Pakistan, in which 6 soldiers were killed. However, it is not yet known which organization these terrorists belonged to. Pakistan’s army has said that on the evening of October 4, Islamic terrorists attacked an army convoy in the country’s volatile north-west. Many high-ranking officers including Lieutenant are among the soldiers killed in this attack.

In a statement on October 5, the army identified the slain officer as Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Ali Shaukat. At the same time, 6 terrorists were also killed in the encounter in Waziristan of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa state near the Afghan border, whose relationship has not been disclosed.

No group has taken responsibility for the attack

According to the statement, search and rescue operation is going on. A source in the district’s intelligence agency, speaking on condition of anonymity, told RFE/RL’s Radio Mashal that 24 soldiers were injured in “a fierce gunbattle.” In fact, North Waziristan has been a stronghold of terrorists active on both sides of the border for a long time. In recent years, civilians and security forces have been killed in targeted killings.

Pakistani officials say attacks have increased in recent months. Many of these have been captured by the Pakistani Taliban (TTP). After the Afghan Taliban returned to power following the withdrawal of US-led forces from the country, several TTP members have reportedly taken refuge in Afghanistan, which they are using to carry out sustained attacks on Pakistani soldiers and civilians.

‘Pakistan army and government committed to end terrorism’

Residents of Bannu city in Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province protest for peace in July. The unrest in Waziristan and other districts of the state of Pakhtunkhwa has led to mass protests by civilians, who have demanded more security but also expressed concerns that civilians could be harassed during army attacks. Or may be arrested.

The central government and the Pakistani army say that they are committed to ending terrorism in the region and will continue to target terrorists. In 2014, the Pakistani Army launched a two-year military campaign in North Waziristan, which it claimed had eliminated terrorists from the area.

Let us tell you that this attack affected the lives of citizens to a great extent, lakhs of whom became homeless. Many returned to the area in 2016, but peace was disrupted by the resumption of terrorist attacks in 2018.
