Maria Branyas
Madrid: The woman believed to be the oldest person in the world has died. She was American but lived in Spain. Her name was Maria Branyas and she was 117 years old. Her family gave this information on Tuesday.
On Branyas’s ‘ex’ account, her family wrote, ‘Maria Branyas left us all. She went away the way she wanted to go. In a peaceful, eternal sleep and without any pain.’
The Gerontology Research Group had reported the oldest person
Branias was named the world’s oldest person following the death last year of French nun Lucile Randon by the Gerontology Research Group, which certifies records of people believed to be 110 years old or older.
Branyas was born on March 4, 1907 in San Francisco. Her family returned to Spain when she was young. At the time of her death, Branyas was in a nursing home in the Catalan province of Olot. (Input: Bhasha)
