Iran’s news agency IRIB, quoting its sources in Lebanon, has reported that the Israeli army on Monday (June 15, 2026) carried out air and artillery strikes on the cities of Jawtar, Merkaba and Khiyam located in the southern part of Lebanon. Israeli Defense Minister opposes US-Iran peace deal

The most prominent name among those who reacted against the agreement between America and Iran is Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz. He has said that if Iran attacks Israel due to the ongoing military actions in Lebanon, then Tel Aviv is ready to respond with full force.

Defense Minister Katz also reiterated that Israel will not withdraw its forces from Lebanon, Syria and the Gaza Strip. Addressing a press conference, he said, ‘Maintaining control and security of all areas is one of the biggest achievements of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). Therefore, we oppose the IDF withdrawal from Lebanon, despite all current and future pressures. Prime Minister Netanyahu has also informed the US President about this decision.
