Bangladesh Crisis: Abul Faiz Muhammad Khalid Hussain, religious affairs adviser in the interim government led by Mohammad Yunus in Bangladesh, on Saturday categorically rejected speculations that the national anthem could be changed. Abul Faiz Muhammad Khalid Hussain said that he has no plans to change the national anthem of the country. After visiting the Islamic Foundation in Rajshahi on the northern bank of the Padma river, he said that the interim government will not do anything to create controversy. They want to build a beautiful Bangladesh with the cooperation of all.
On the issue of targeting of Hindu community people in Bangladesh, Hussain assured that those found guilty of such ‘heinous acts’ will be punished by the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus. Those who attack places of worship are enemies of humanity. They are criminals and will be prosecuted under existing laws.
Madrassa students will protect temples
The advisor on religious affairs in the interim government also announced that local citizens along with madrasa students will join in the security of temples to prevent any kind of attack or vandalism during the upcoming Durga Puja celebrations. The country’s leading daily newspaper ‘The Daily Star’ on Saturday quoted Hussain as saying that madrasa students were never involved in terrorism. It was propaganda and conspiracy of the previous government.
Houses of both Hindus and Muslims were burnt- Hussain
According to the advisor, just as the houses of some Hindu community people have been attacked after the change of government, similarly the houses of Muslims have also been attacked. There is no scope to look at it separately. This government is one for all and is committed to ensuring the safety of all. In an interview given to news agency ‘IANS’ last month, he described India as the ‘best neighbor’ of Bangladesh. He emphasized that the work of taking strict action against the criminals involved in many incidents has started.
Violence against Hindus continues in Bangladesh
Since the resignation of former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on August 5, 2024, incidents of violence and vandalism have come to the fore against minority communities, especially Hindus. Hussain had told IANS that India is a neighboring country and they want to maintain peace in the country with the goodwill of India. After great efforts, they got Bangladesh back and during its liberation, people of all religions sacrificed and shed their blood in the movement. They cannot let it be ruined. However, despite the assurances given by the Yunus government, there are reports of daily attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh as radical Islamic groups are spreading ideology.
