Bangladesh Crisis: After Sheikh Hasina’s resignation from the post of Prime Minister, 49 teachers from minority communities in Bangladesh have been forced to resign. Bangladesh Chhatra Oikya Parishad, the student wing of Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Oikya Parishad, gave this information in a press conference held at the Jatiya Press Club on Saturday. The case of forced resignation of Shukla Rani Halder, Principal of Bakerganj Government College in Barishal, is creating a ruckus on social media. People are condemning it fiercely.
According to The Daily Star report, student union convenor Sajib Sarkar said that religious and ethnic minorities in the country have faced violence since the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led government. He said that this includes looting, attacks on women, vandalism of temples, arson of homes and workplaces and even murders. Sarkar further revealed that minority teachers across the country faced physical attacks, which forced at least 49 teachers to resign till August 30. However, 19 of them have been reinstated.
The situation worsened further after the resignation of Sheikh Hasina
In fact, the movement that started against the quota in Bangladesh turned violent, after which Sheikh Hasina had to resign from her post and flee the country. More than 400 people died during this violent movement. After taking oath, Mohammad Yunus, the chief advisor of the interim government in Bangladesh, said that he would maintain the dignity of the constitution, support and protect the people and perform his duties honestly. Despite this, the situation in Bangladesh does not seem to be improving.
Violence against Hindus in 48 districts of Bangladesh
After Sheikh Hasina left Dhaka, anti-social elements spread unrest in the country and targeted the houses and places of worship of Hindus. Bangladesh Jatiya Hindu Mohajot (BJHM), a national coalition of 23 religious organizations of the country, said that since August 5, Hindu families have faced violence and vandalism at 278 places in 48 districts of the country. On the other hand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi PM Modi also reiterated India’s support for the stability and development of Bangladesh. He said that in the days to come, we will always wish well for Bangladesh’s ‘development journey’ because we are well-wishers of mankind.

The interim government of Bangladesh is currently taking continuous action against Sheikh Hasina and her associates. Recently, the former textile and industry minister of Bangladesh was arrested. Apart from this, murder and various types of cases are being registered against Sheikh Hasina and Awami League leaders. In such a situation, it has become difficult for Sheikh Hasina to return to Bangladesh, because she may be arrested in Bangladesh and may have to stay in jail for a long time.
