Himachal Pradesh News: There has been a lot of controversy in Himachal Pradesh’s capital Shimla for the past several days regarding the construction of a mosque in Sanjauli. During the monsoon session of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly, under Rule 62 of the attention motion, MLA Balveer Verma from Chaupal and MLA Harish Janartha from Shimla also raised this issue.
During this discussion, Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Minister in the state government Aniruddha Singh also participated. In the assembly, Aniruddha Singh’s remarks were not thumped by the ruling party but by the opposition members. This is very rarely seen in the assembly.
What did Anirudh Singh say?
Cabinet Minister Anirudh Singh clearly said, “The mosque has been built illegally in Sanjauli area of Shimla. Its ownership rights are also with the Himachal Pradesh government. Occupation of this land is also illegal.” He said, “In such a situation, the question arises that how such a big construction took place on government land?
Anirudh Singh said that the map should not have been passed on public land. He said that in other places, electricity and water supply are cut off for illegal construction, but this did not happen here. This raises many questions.
The case has been going on for 14 years
Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Minister Aniruddh Singh said, “Since 2010, 44 hearings have been held in this case and some time ago the Municipal Corporation came to know that the respondent in this case should not be an individual but the Wakf Board.”
Anirudh Singh said that this is extremely irresponsible. He claimed that even when the matter was under consideration, illegal construction was carried out here. Anirudh Singh said, “If the mosque is illegal, then it should be demolished.”
Cabinet Minister Singh said, “This is not an issue of temple, mosque or any other religious institution, but it is an issue of legal and illegal.” He said that he takes full responsibility for the protest that took place outside the mosque on Sunday.
‘Action should be taken against the officers as well’
While talking to the media, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Aniruddh Singh said that action should also be taken against the municipal officials found to be involved in helping in the illegal construction. He said that illegal construction of the mosque was going on for the last several years, but the administration remained asleep.
Anirudh Singh of the Himachal government told the media, “Action will also be taken against the guilty officer in this case. He will also personally talk to the Municipal Corporation Commissioner.” He said that the case related to the mosque will be heard by the Municipal Corporation Shimla Commissioner on Saturday.
‘Outsiders should be properly verified’
Anirudh Singh said, “The verification of people coming here from other states should be done properly.” He said, “It has become difficult for the mothers and sisters to come and go near the tunnel in Shimla’s Lower Bazaar. Dirty comments are passed here.” He said that he himself is a witness to this.
What did he say about the Malana fight?
Minister Aniruddh Singh said that there should be strict verification of people coming from outside states, so that it can be known where they are coming from. He said, “Recently an FIR was lodged against six people in the case of assault in Malana.”
Referring to the fight in Malana, Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Minister Anirudh Singh said that two accused in this case are also minors. He said all of them are residents of Muzaffarnagar. Police will take strict action in this case.
