Covid-19 Report: Only a few years have passed since the effects of the Corona pandemic subsided. No one has forgotten that terrible situation. The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare rejected the report of the Academic Journal Science Advances (AJSA) which said that Covid 19 in 2020 has reduced the lifespan of people in India by about two and a half years.
The report of the academic journal Science Advances said that the life expectancy of people in India has decreased by 2.6 years between 2019 and 2020. The report further stated that its effect has been seen more on the age of socially deprived Scheduled Tribes and Muslims. In this, a greater decline has been seen in the age of women than men. However, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has rejected this report.
The ministry rejected the report
The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said that the academic journal Science Advances has used the data of families of the National Family Health Survey between January to April 2021 to estimate the mortality rate in India, which was not fully used. Such reports are not based on the data of all the states of the country. Rather, this report has been prepared on the data of 23 percent of the families of 14 states.
These allegations against the researchers
The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare also accused the researchers that this data was taken from the time when the Corona Covid-19 epidemic was at its peak. At the same time, according to official figures, the mortality rate during Covid was higher among men and older people, while the academic journal Science Advances has reported a higher mortality rate among young and women in its report. The ministry further said that these reports with inconsistent and ambiguous results further reduce the trust in the claims.
