Players RCB Might Release before IPL 2025 Mega Auction: Royal Challengers Bengaluru has been performing well in the last few seasons, but the title is still far away from this team. In IPL 2024, RCB was eliminated after losing to Rajasthan Royals in the eliminator match. Now due to the new retention policy and salary slots issued by BCCI, it has become difficult for the teams to retain players. Before the auction, let us know about those 3 players whom RCB may decide to release.
1. Yash Dayal
Yash Dayal was signed by RCB in IPL 2024 by paying Rs 5 crore. Yash became the bowler taking the most wickets (15) for Bengaluru in his very first season. He took wickets, but gave away a lot of runs in the powerplay and death overs. Last season, Yash’s economy rate was 9.15. Although he has not made his debut for Team India, he was selected in the squad for the series against Bangladesh. Yash’s stature as a player is growing and it may not be possible for RCB to retain him. To retain Yash, RCB will have to spend at least Rs 11 crore. In such a situation, the last option left for Bengaluru would be to release him.
2. Glenn Maxwell
Glenn Maxwell has scored 1,266 runs in 52 matches for RCB in IPL at an average of 28.77. Last season, he scored only 52 runs in 12 matches, due to which he had to be trolled a lot. Maxwell has been failing as a batsman in the IPL for the last several seasons, due to which his market value in franchise cricket has probably reduced. Before Maxwell becomes a burden for the team, RCB can release him.
3. Faf du Plessis
Faf du Plessis joined Royal Challengers Bangalore in the year 2022. He has been consistently performing well as a player and has scored a total of 1,636 runs in the last 3 seasons. He recently made St. Lucia Kings the champion of the Caribbean Premier League under his captaincy. Du Plessis’s performance has been top level, but according to the salary categories made by BCCI, even Rs 11 crore seems to be too much for Du Plessis.
