Zaheer Khan returns to IPL, Lucknow Super Giants gives him a big responsibility

Zaheer Khan IPL 2025 LSG: Lucknow Super Giants has made a big change before the Indian Premier League 2025. Lucknow has appointed former Team India veteran Zaheer Khan as the mentor of the team. Zaheer’s cricket career has been great. He has been associated with some team or the other even after retirement. Now he is in the Lucknow camp. Lucknow Super Giants has shared a video on social media regarding this. Zaheer is seen in this video.

Zaheer made his IPL debut in 2008. After this, he played for the last time in 2017. Zaheer Khan held different roles after this. He was with Mumbai Indians from 2018 to 2022. Now he will play the role of mentor for Lucknow. Before him, Gautam Gambhir was in this position. Gambhir joined Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2024. After his departure, the position of mentor was vacant in Lucknow. So now Zaheer will be in this role.

There will be no change in the coaching staff –

If we talk about the coaching staff of Lucknow, Justin Langer is handling the responsibility of the head coach. He came in place of Andy Flower. Lance Klusener and Adam Voges are the team assistant coaches. There will be no change in the coaching staff after Zaheer’s arrival. But Zaheer will perform other responsibilities along with being a mentor. He can also organize player-development programs.

Zaheer’s career has been strong –

If we look at Zaheer’s career, it has been great. Zaheer has taken 102 wickets in 100 IPL matches. During this, taking 4 wickets for just 17 runs has been the best performance in a match. Zaheer has played 17 T20 matches for India. He has taken 17 wickets in it. Zaheer has played 200 ODI matches. During this, he has taken 282 wickets. He has also taken 311 Test wickets for Team India.
