Police told news agency PTI that the body of the woman was found near bushes in a deserted place in Anandpur, on the southern outskirts. Many injury marks were found on her body. Police came to know about this when local people saw the body of the woman lying in the bushes on Wednesday morning. After this, they informed the police about it.

What else did the Kolkata Police find out?

The police took the body into custody and sent it for postmortem. Locals claim that the deceased woman is not from the area. If the locals are to be believed, she was an outsider and her body was brought there and thrown. Injuries and blood marks were also found on the body of the deceased. Police sources informed that the woman has not been identified yet but the exact cause of her death will be known only after the postmortem report comes. According to the police, investigation into the case has begun. Footage of nearby CCTV cameras is being examined.

Meanwhile, locals have complained that the place from where the woman’s body was recovered does not even have street lights. Perhaps this is why this place has become a place for suspicious activities. By the way, even before this, incidents like attempted murder and recovery of dead bodies have been reported in the city. Earlier this month, a junior female doctor was raped and murdered at Kolkata’s government RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, which has led to protests across the country.
