IMD Weather Update: It has been raining heavily in Gujarat for the last few days. Due to the rain, 18 districts are affected by floods. More than 32 people have died due to rain and floods. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert about a new danger. The pressure formed on the Arabian Sea has turned into Cyclone Asna. Due to this, Gujarat is now also facing the threat of cyclone ‘Asna’.
Due to the cyclone, there may be heavy rains in Kutch and Saurashtra of Gujarat. The Meteorological Department has asked people living in huts and temporary houses to take shelter in schools, temples or other buildings. Fishermen have also been warned not to go into the sea.
It may rain in Delhi
Humid heat has again made Delhi-NCR miserable. According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), it may rain in Delhi-NCR today i.e. Saturday (31 August, 2024). The weather will be clear with light clouds. At the same time, strong winds will also blow. According to IMD, the weather will remain dry today on 31 August and tomorrow on 1 September. The maximum temperature will remain 35 to 36 degrees and the minimum temperature will remain 24 to 25 degrees.
The Meteorological Department says that monsoon rains are likely to continue in India till the end of September, as a low pressure system is developing in the middle of the month. Delay in monsoon and above normal rainfall may damage crops like rice, cotton, soybean, maize and pulses sown in summer, as they are usually harvested from mid-September.
There is a possibility of lightning in these areas
The Meteorological Department has again issued a yellow alert for light to moderate rain in Delhi from September 2. According to IMD, NCR will remain cloudy. After this, there will be light rain and clouds will also remain on September 3 and 4. At the same time, rain has been predicted in various areas of UP, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. Out of these, many districts of Rajasthan will remain on yellow alert. Light rain may occur in Ajmer, Pali, Baran, Bundi, Jaisalmer, Sawai Madhopur, Bharatpur, Nagaur, Bikaner, Dholpur, Hanumangarh. There is also a possibility of lightning in these areas, due to which people have been asked to go to safe places.
Heavy rain continues in Kutch of Gujarat
The Meteorological Department has issued a warning saying that Cyclone Asna may move towards west and northwest direction over the northwest Arabian Sea during the next 24 hours. A deep pressure area is formed over the Arabian Sea, due to which there has been heavy rainfall in the Kutch region of Gujarat for the last 24 hours.
Situation out of control in 11 districts
Talking about the state of Gujarat, there are chances of torrential rains here due to its proximity to the sea. The torrential rains have disrupted the normal life here. The situation in 11 coastal districts including Porbandar, Dwarka, Somnath-Veraval, Vadodara can go from uncontrollable to worse.
Yellow alert issued in Chandigarh
There is no possibility of rain in the districts adjoining NCR, Punjab-Haryana and Chandigarh from 31 August to 2 September. A yellow alert has been issued in Chandigarh. A warning of heavy rain has been issued in Jammu-Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, Ladakh. In this connection, the Meteorological Department has also warned of heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand after September 2.
August was the coldest month
This year the monsoons brought a very cold August month. This month was so cold that the record of 2013 was also broken. Due to heavy rains the temperature remained at 34.2 degrees and did not go above 37 degrees. Before this, in 2013 the temperature was 33.6 degrees.
