Big change in medical entrance exam, NTA will no longer organize medical entrance exam

NEET UG Exam: Several changes have been made by the National Medical Commission-NMC in the conduct of medical entrance exam NEET-UG. Some of these changes are logical while some are beyond comprehension. The new age-criteria issued by the commission is not logical and beyond comprehension. Education expert Dev Sharma said that according to the new age criteria, the student will have to complete 17 years of age on January 31 of the examination year. While according to the previous age-criteria, the student was eligible to appear in the NEET-UG examination even after completing 17-years of age by 31-December in the examination-year.

In simple words, it can be said that the student will now get 11 months less than before to complete the age of 17-years. According to the new age-criteria, students who will not complete 17-years of age by January 31, 2024, will not be able to appear in NEET-2024. Dev Sharma said that if the old age-criteria were implemented, then students who would have completed 17-years of age by December 31, 2024 would also be eligible to appear in NEET-2024. Certainly, this age-criteria can debar talented students from appearing in the NEET-UG exam.

They will be given better rank

The tie-breaking rules have also been radically changed by the commission. According to the new criteria, if the total marks of the students are equal, the one who gets more marks in Physics subject will be given a better rank. If there is still a tie, then there will be tie-breaking on the basis of marks in Chemistry and finally in Biology. According to Dev Sharma, the new tie-breaking criteria seems logical as the reasoning ability of a student who scores better marks in Physics-subject will definitely be better.

Dev Sharma said that according to the eligibility-criteria issued for NEET-UG, the compulsion of percentage of marks in the 12th board has been abolished. Now all the students who have passed 12th board will be eligible to appear on duty in the medical entrance exam NEET-UG.

60680 MBBS seats were available
Dev Sharma informed that according to the recently released MBBS-seats data by the National Medical Commission-NMC, New Delhi, currently 1-lakh,6-thousand-333 MBBS seats are available for allotment in 695-medical institutions . If we look at the figures of the National Medical Commission-NMC New Delhi for the pre-covid year-2019, it is known that at that time 60680-MBBS seats were available in 497-medical institutions of the country.
