‘Central force was deployed, but…’, Mamta Banerjee said about the attack on the Union Minister’s house

Manipur Violence: Violence continues in Manipur. A mob ransacked the residence of Union Minister of State for External Affairs RK Ranjan Singh in Imphal on Thursday (June 15) late night. Meanwhile, Congress and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee targeted the central government on Friday (June 16) regarding this.

Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee said, “Central force was deployed in Manipur as well, but what happened?” The minister’s house was burnt. 150 people were killed, what did your Central Force do? The Central Force was also deployed in the 2013 elections but 39 people were killed. Before this, 70 people were killed in the 2003 elections ie during the CPM era.

While the Congress said that the situation in Manipur is out of control, but the Prime Minister Narendra Modi are silent. Party general secretary KC Venugopal claimed that the state was burning for the last 40 days. Those in power are helping the militants with arms and ammunition.

What did RK Ranjan Singh say?
Speaking to news agency PTI, Union Minister RK Ranjan Singh after the incident of vandalism at his residence said that since May 3, I have been trying to establish peace and stop the violence….It is between two communities. It is a matter of misunderstanding. The government has constituted a peace committee, the process is on.

He said that I have built it (the house) with my hard-earned money. I am not corrupt. No one is corrupt in this government.

In fact, security forces and fire brigade personnel foiled the mob’s attempt to set fire and saved the residence of Minister RK Ranjan Singh from burning.

What did Rahul Gandhi say?
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also attacked the BJP on Thursday (June 15) and said that an all-party delegation should be sent to Manipur. He tweeted, “Manipur is burning since 40 days because of BJP’s politics of hate, due to which more than 100 people have died.” The Prime Minister has disappointed India and is completely silent.

He said, “An all-party delegation should be sent to the state to stop this cycle of violence and restore peace. Let’s close the ‘market of hate’ and open a ‘shop of love’ in every heart of Manipur.

What did the central government do?
News agency PTI quoted sources as saying that the central government has made all possible efforts to restore normalcy in Manipur through several measures. Sources said that these measures include deployment of additional troops in border areas and high-altitude areas of the security forces besides strict monitoring of senior officers.

Sources in the know of the development said that the Union Home Ministry has asked Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) S.K. Ale. Thousen has been sent to Manipur.

What is the matter?
Violent clashes broke out in Manipur after a ‘Tribal Solidarity March’ was organized on May 3 to protest against the demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status to the Meitei community. Since then, about 120 people have died in the state so far and more than three thousand people have been injured.
