Manipur Violence: Violence continues in Manipur. A mob ransacked the residence of Union Minister of State for External Affairs RK Ranjan Singh in Imphal on Thursday (June 15) late night. News agency PTI quoted sources as saying that the central government has made all possible efforts to restore normalcy in Manipur through several measures. Sources said that these measures include deployment of additional troops in border areas and high-altitude areas of the security forces besides strict monitoring of senior officers.
Sources in the know of the development said that the Union Home Ministry has asked Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) S.K. Ale. Thousen has been sent to Manipur.

Violent clashes broke out in Manipur after a ‘Tribal Solidarity March’ was organized on May 3 to protest against the demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status to the Meitei community. Since then, about 120 people have died in the state so far and more than three thousand people have been injured.
