Union Cabinet Decisions: The Union Cabinet on Monday (25 November) approved several important decisions related to agriculture, innovation, education, energy and infrastructure. The objective of these decisions is to promote sustainable development, promote entrepreneurship and increase access to resources in various sectors. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav informed the media about major decisions.
During the Cabinet briefing, the Union Minister informed that the Cabinet has approved the launch of National Natural Farming Mission, which is an independent centrally sponsored scheme under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. With an outlay of Rs 2,481 crore, the mission aims to promote chemical-free farming practices, ensuring sustainable and environment-friendly farming methods.

In a bid to boost innovation, the Cabinet gave the green signal to AIM 2.0 with a budget of Rs 2,750 crore for implementation by March 31, 2028. This initiative will further strengthen India’s entrepreneurial ecosystem by supporting startups, research and development.
Paper Lace Pan System
The Cabinet also approved PAN 2.0, which emphasizes a digital and paperless process for issuing Permanent Account Numbers (PAN) and a grievance redressal mechanism, making the system more efficient and user-friendly.
What about the education sector?
To democratize access to academic resources, the Cabinet launched One Nation One Subscription Scheme, a central initiative aimed at increasing nationwide access to scholarly research articles and journals. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav announced that the scheme, estimated to cost Rs 6,000 crore, will consolidate subscriptions of globally recognized journals, making them accessible to educational institutions across India. “This decision will greatly benefit students and researchers by providing high quality resources at no cost,” he said.
Hydro Electric Project in Arunachal Pradesh
The Cabinet has approved the investment proposal for 240 MW Heo Hydroelectric Project in Shi Yomi district of Arunachal Pradesh. The project, with an outlay of Rs 1,939 crore and a complete duration of 50 months, aims to increase power generation capacity in the North Eastern region.
Railway connectivity will be better
To improve connectivity, the Cabinet approved three multitracking railway projects with a combined cost of Rs 7,927 crore. These projects are expected to ease travel, reduce logistics costs, reduce oil imports and cut CO2 emissions, thereby helping to create a more efficient and eco-friendly rail network.
