Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has given a statement about preparing a roadmap to increase the income of farmers and strengthen agriculture. He said, “If production has to be increased and cost has to be reduced, then having good seeds is the most important thing. Today, in this era of climate change where the temperature of the earth’s surface is constantly increasing, we need seeds that are climate-friendly and can give proper yield even in rising temperatures.
The Agriculture Minister said, “It is important to reduce the use of pesticides. I am happy to say that the Indian Council of Agricultural Research is continuously engaged in this work and recently 109 new varieties of seeds have been developed.”
Will strengthen the agriculture sector- Shivraj
The Agriculture Minister said that the first priority of the PM is agriculture and farmers. He assured that the central government will strengthen the agriculture sector along with increasing the income of farmers. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit ICAR fields on Sunday (11 August 2024). The Agriculture Minister said that PM Modi will release 109 varieties of crops from there. He told that PM Modi will also discuss with the farmers. The Agriculture Minister said that our goal is to bring the benefits of science and research directly to the farmers.

Central government will build 2 crore new houses
Referring to the cabinet meeting held on Friday (9 August 2024), Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, “I also have the Rural Development Ministry. We will build 2 crore more new houses for the poor.” Regarding the Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan, Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, “I appeal to all of you to hoist the tricolor in your homes.”
109 crop varieties to be released
During this period, 109 varieties of 61 crops will be released, which include 34 field crops and 27 horticultural crops. A statement issued by the PMO said that in the field crops, seeds of various cereals including millets, fodder crops, oilseeds, pulses, sugarcane, cotton, fiber crops and other potential crops will be introduced.
