JNU Students Union Protest: Today is the 15th day of the hunger strike by students in Jawaharlal University. Due to the hunger strike, JNU Students Union President Dhananjay and Counselor Nitish have lost weight. Nitish has lost about 7 kg of weight. Dhananjay has fallen prey to diseases like jaundice and UTI. Despite the disease and decline in weight, both the students are still adamant about their demands.
The main demands of the students sitting on hunger strike-
1. Resumption of JNU Entrance Exam (JNUEE)
2. The provision of penalty for demonstration should be removed
3. Caste census of the campus should be conducted

5. It should be increased from two thousand rupees to five thousand
6. Non NET fellowship should be increased to Rs 20,000

JNU Students Union President Dhananjay said that the merit-cum-means scholarship is stuck at Rs 2,000. What is the use of a fellowship of Rs 2,000 in this era of inflation. Barak hostel is also not being given to the students. He said that the caste census data should be released in the campus.
Dhananjay said that on the 10th day, Vice Chancellor Shantishree D Pandit had appealed to end the hunger strike. She agreed to accept four demands of the students. The demands of getting accreditation for the School of Engineering, conducting student faculty elections and caste census have been accepted. Parthasarathy Rocks has been opened for demonstration. The Vice Chancellor has asked for time to restore the JNU entrance examination system.
He has assured that caste census will be conducted from next year. Dhananjay said that JNU Students Union wants assurance in writing. He warned that the Vice Chancellor will be responsible for her deteriorating health. Counselor Nitish said that the biggest demand of the students is the restoration of JNU entrance exam system. The papers of the exams conducted by NTA are getting leaked. UG, PG and PhD exams used to be held together. Now no one knows anything about anyone.
