‘For the sake of Allah, go home’, Maulvi kept appealing to mosque amidst violence, watch video

Handle violence: A video of a violent clash between a mob and security personnel during the survey of a mosque in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh is going viral on social media. Reportedly four people died in this incident. In the viral video, a Muslim cleric can be heard urging the crowd to disperse and return home. Some people can be seen damaging a car parked on the road.

A loudspeaker announcement echoes in the background, saying, “I request my Muslim brothers. The survey has been completed. Please do not be disturbed in any way, and return to your homes for the sake of Allah. I appeal to you I strongly urge you, for the sake of Allah, to go back to your homes.”

Violence broke out due to survey of mosque

Last Sunday (24 November) violence broke out in Sambhal during the survey of a Mughal era mosque on the orders of the court. About two hours after the survey started, a huge crowd gathered at Sambhal Jama Masjid and started pelting stones at the security personnel. Several officers were injured and two people from the crowd, including a police officer, had to be hospitalized.

Police released tear gas shells

To control the situation, the police released tear gas and dispersed the crowd by lathicharge. The Hindu community claims that the mosque was built on the site of an ancient Harihar temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Internet services have been shut down in the area to prevent rumors from spreading. DIG Muniraj ji told ANI on Monday (November 25) that the situation in Sambhal is now under control.

“Police are deployed at key locations. Last night, we confirmed three deaths, and today one more person died in Moradabad, taking the total number of deaths to four,” he said.
