Free PAN 2.0: In the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 25 November 2024, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs i.e. CCEA had approved the PAN 2.0 project of the Income Tax Department. Under this, the PAN number will remain the same for the existing users, but the card can be upgraded and for this, any PAN card user or card holder will be able to upgrade his PAN card without any charge. This PAN 2.0 will have a QR code and will be more advanced, more secure and duplication free than the earlier PAN cards.

To get a new PAN card with QR code, you will have to go to the official website of NSDL https://www.onlineservices.nsdl.com/paam/requestAndDownloadEPAN.html.
- After visiting this link, fill all your necessary information like PAN card, PAN number information, Aadhar card date of birth etc. in the required place.
- After this click on the tick box and then submit.
- A new webpage will open in front of you, in which you should check your information carefully so that no wrong information is given.
- After this click on the option to take OTP.
- Complete the verification process by filling the OTP received on the registered mobile.
- As soon as the entire process is completed, PAN Card 2.0 will be sent to your registered email ID within half an hour.
How to ask for physical PAN in physical mode?
If you want to order PAN card in physical mode, then you will have to pay a fee of Rs 50 for this. If you want delivery of PAN card outside India, you will have to pay an additional charge of Rs 15.
