Moscow/Kyiv: The war that has been going on between Russia and Ukraine for the last four and a half years is not showing any signs of stopping. Meanwhile, Ukraine carried out a major drone attack inside Russia, targeting two large warehouses and an oil depot near Moscow. According to Russian officials, nine people died in these attacks, while more than 60 people were injured. After these attacks, massive fires broke out at many places. After this the surrounding areas were evacuated as a precautionary measure.
Two big logistics warehouses became targets
Russian officials said Ukrainian drones targeted two large warehouses of major online retail company Wildberries. One of these is located in Kotovsk in the Tambov region and the other in the city of Elektrostal, about 50 kilometers from Moscow. Apart from this, an oil depot in Noginsk was also attacked by drone. After the attack, a fire broke out and nearby hospitals and residential buildings had to be evacuated.
Seven employees working in the warehouse died
The governor of the Tambov region said the attack on a warehouse in Kotovsk killed seven workers and injured 25 others. Night shift employees were working there when the attack took place. In the Moscow region, 37 people were injured in separate attacks. In another drone attack in the Belgorod region, one person has been confirmed dead and another injured.
Important military logistics targets were targeted – Zelensky
Meanwhile, the statement of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky came out. He said the attacks targeted key logistics facilities in the Moscow and Tambov regions that supplied contraband components used in the manufacturing of drones and navigation equipment. They also claimed attacks on oil installations and in Russian-held areas.
Russia claims to have shot down 379 Ukrainian drones
Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed that its air defense systems shot down a total of 379 Ukrainian drones overnight over 19 regions of Russia, including Crimea, the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea. However, despite this many drones were successful in reaching their targets, causing massive damage. There itself Ukraine’s Prime Minister replaced amid war with Russia Is. Serhiy Koretsky was made the new Prime Minister of the country on Thursday. He is set to replace Yulia Sviridenko as PM who served in the post from 2025 to July 2026.
