‘I stood up but…’, NC MLA did not stand up during the national anthem at the swearing-in ceremony?

Jammu & Kashmir: National Conference MLA from Sonwari, Jammu and Kashmir, Hilal Akbar Lone has been accused of not standing for the national anthem during the swearing-in ceremony of Omar Abdullah. CCTV footage of the program is being scrutinized to prove the allegations. The accused MLA has confirmed that he did not stand due to health reasons.

According to officials, during the swearing-in ceremony of Omar Abdullah as Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Center (SKICC), some attendees were reported not to stand up during the playing of the national anthem. Hilal Akbar Lone was one of them.

CCTV footage of the event was scrutinized to ascertain the veracity of the allegations and the matter is being investigated under the rules of deliberate non-standing and disrespect of the national anthem. When questioned, Lone said that he did not stand due to health related problem.

However, Hilal had reached the venue just a few hours before the incident and was standing normally. He gave an interview to the media including ABP News. In this interview, he had said that this is a good beginning and he will have to work hard for the development of Jammu and Kashmir, Article 370 and full statehood.

Sources also said that the entire footage of the program will be scrutinized to find out who did not stand up during the national anthem.

On this, MLA Hilal Akbar Lone said, “When the National Anthem played, I stood up but then I sat down. I have a medical problem, even when I went out for lunch, I did not sit on the chair, I sat on the floor, that is why I did not stand up.” Happened. I had no intention of insulting the Constitution. The Supreme Court’s ruling is that if someone does not stand up, it is not a crime. No one has contacted me yet for investigation, if there is an investigation then I will have full cooperation.”
