India Iran Talks: Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi on Wednesday called his Indian counterpart S Jaishankar and discussed various aspects of the ongoing crisis in West Asia. Two days after Syed Abbas Araghchi’s visit to Moscow, he had a phone conversation with India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar.
Giving information on social media, S Jaishankar said that this evening he received a call from Iran’s Foreign Minister Syed Abbas Araghchi. He said that various aspects of the current situation were discussed in detail and both sides agreed to remain in touch.
Iranian Embassy issued statement
The Iranian Embassy in New Delhi said the two sides discussed and exchanged views on latest developments related to the ceasefire, bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues. It is believed that the situation arising out of the US blockade and restrictions imposed by Iran on the movement of ships through the Strait of Hormuz is also believed to have been mentioned in the conversation. The Iranian Foreign Minister visited Moscow after visiting Oman and Pakistan as part of diplomatic efforts to end the Iran-US war.
Unsuccessful round of peace talks between America and Iran
The first round of peace talks between Iran and America held in Islamabad on 11 and 12 April was not successful in ending the conflict. US President last Tuesday donald trump Washington extended the two-week ceasefire with Iran indefinitely, to give Tehran more time to prepare a unified proposal to end the war. The war began on February 28 when the US and Israel jointly attacked Iran, killing Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and several top commanders.
